Jesus Heals a Boy Possessed by an Impure Spirit

“Everything is possible for one who believes.”
Do you have doubts that God will work in your life? That he will heal you, or answer your prayers, or work in that impossible situation that seems to have no way of being solved.
Today’s bible story highlights the plight of a desperate father who pleas for his Son’s healing against demon possession. In verse 22 this father admits to Jesus that he has doubts when he says ‘ IF YOU CAN do anything, take pity on us and help us.’
Jesus responds by saying “IF YOU CAN?” “Everything is possible for one who believes.” I love that!!!
This desperate father was speaking to the King of the Universe, The maker of Heaven and Earth, the all powerful and all loving God in the form of Jesus Christ. So it was not a matter of ‘IF’ Jesus wanted to heal the boy, but a lesson in the fathers belief that healing could take place.
The father’s faith increases just a bit in Verse 23 but he humbly admits to Jesus that he is not perfect. He still doubts.“Immediately the boy’s father exclaimed, “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!” WOW!
So I want to ask you today what are you believing in God for today? Is it your health, your finances, your relationships? Do you have doubts that God can make the situation better?
Pray to God today and believe that he can, and will, step into that situation and work it out for your ultimate good. James 1:17 says “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.”
Don’t be afraid to pray honestly to God about how you feel. And then trust that everything will work out for your ultimate good.
Now, finally, I must point out one thing –  Jesus is NOT a genie! He does not perform “As Your Wish Commands”. He does, what he does, because he knows it is the best for us at the time. I know that that might be hard for many people to grasp, but the bible says that God is the only God there is, and his ways are higher than my ways. As the God who knows everything, I must believe that whatever he plans for my life will be for my ultimate good. And I must walk in those ways.
