God saw you as “Very Good”

Genesis 1: 26-31 says:

Then God said, “Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us. They will reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, the livestock, all the wild animals on the earth, and the small animals that scurry along the ground.”
27 So God created human beings[d] in his own image.
  In the image of God he created them;
 male and female he created them.

28 Then God blessed them and said, “Be fruitful and multiply. Fill the earth and govern it. Reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, and all the animals that scurry along the ground.”

29 Then God said, “Look! I have given you every seed-bearing plant throughout the earth and all the fruit trees for your food. 30 And I have given every green plant as food for all the wild animals, the birds in the sky, and the small animals that scurry along the ground—everything that has life.” And that is what happened.

31 Then God looked over all he had made, and he saw that it was very good!

Firstly let us say that God created Man and Woman in his own image – in the image of God he created them! And in verse 31 God looked over all of his creation and saw that ‘IT WAS VERY GOOD!”

As we go through this week let us keep in mind that God’s first thought about us was good! He did not look on us critically or as if we had a malfunction, but he looked on us with favor as HIS glorious creation. We (both male and females) are the only part of creation that bears the image (or snapshot) of what God really looks like.

And as such we can rely on the truth of Ephesians Chapter 1: 4-5

4 Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes. 5 God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure.

What about you?

What does “Womanhood” mean to you?
